A wooden coffin tomb in Gyeongju, South Korea, from the Three Kingdoms period in Silla. It was discovered by chance in 1921 and was given this name due to the gold crown that was unearthed there. It is a circular tomb with a base diameter of about 45 meters and a height of about 12 meters. A wooden coffin was installed under the enclosed soil, and a lacquered wooden coffin was placed inside. A gold crown, earrings, bracelets, belt, waist straps, and gilt bronze decorative sandals were excavated from the coffin, and a wide variety of weapons, horse equipment, and containers were also excavated from the coffin. A bronze dagger is thought to have been made in China, and a glass cup is thought to have been made in Western Asia, but most of the items were made in Silla, indicating the high level of metalworking technology at the time. Judging from the splendor and abundance of the excavated items, it is believed to be a royal tomb and dates back to around the latter half of the 5th century.
