Hosoya Matsuta
1900-1990 A labor activist from the Taisho to Showa eras.
Born on May 31, 1900. Joined the Japan Seamen's Union in 1921 and the Japanese General Labour Confederation in 1924. Joined the Japanese Communist Party and was repeatedly in and out of prison. After the war he became deputy secretary-general of the Industrial Federation Conference, but came into conflict with the party, left it and formed the New Industrial Federation (National Federation of Industrial Labour Unions) in 1949. Died on August 13, 1990. Age 90. Born in Yamagata Prefecture. His works include "History of the Japanese Labour Movement."

明治33年5月31日生まれ。大正10年日本海員組合に,13年日本労働総同盟に参加。日本共産党に入党し出入獄をくりかえす。戦後産別会議事務局次長となるが,党と対立し,脱党して昭和24年新産別(全国産業別労働組合連合)を結成した。平成2年8月13日死去。90歳。山形県出身。著作に「日本労働運動史」など。
