...Initially subordinate to the Chalukya dynasty, it ruled over a region of Telingana, but in the first half of the 12th century, under Parola II, it gained independence and expanded its power by taking advantage of the decline of the Chalukya dynasty. In the 13th century, the long reign of Ganapati (reigned 1199-1261) was the dynasty's heyday, when he built a fort at Warangal and made it his capital. During the period of turmoil following the fall of the Chola and Chalukya dynasties, the dynasty expanded its territory, mainly in the Andhra region, fighting against the Yadava, Hoysala, and Pandya dynasties. Later, his daughter Rudrāmbā became queen, and mainly fought against the Yadava dynasty. Until the time of the next king, Pratapārudra II (reigned 1295-1323), the dynasty was one of the great powers of South India. ...
