King of Norway. Reigned 933?-959. Illegitimate son of Harald I Fairhair. Also known as the Good. Raised by King Ethelstan of England (Norwegian name Adalstein). After his father's death, he returned to Norway and succeeded his brother, Eirik the Bloodaxe, to the throne. With the help of the Danish king, he repelled several attacks by Eirik's sons. Two of the Great Councils that divide Norway into four are said to have been founded by Haakon, and he was also the creator of the Rydsang, a coastal defense system to protect against foreign invasions, and promoted the project of unifying Norway that had been continued since his father's time.

ノルウェー王。在位933？‐959年。ハーラル1世美髪王の庶子。善王とも呼ばれる。イングランド王エセルスタン(ノルウェー名Adalstein)に養育される。父王没後帰国し，兄エイリク血斧王を追って王位に就く。デンマーク王の助力を得て来攻する兄エイリクの息子たちを数度にわたって撃退。ノルウェーを四分する広域集会のうち二つはホーコンの創設とされ，また外敵の侵入に備える海防機構レイザングの創出者で，父王以来のノルウェーの統一事業をすすめた。
