Date of birth and death unknown. Daughter of Yousu, wife of King Chu (11th century BC), the last king of the Shang dynasty in China. Ji was her father's surname, and Daji was her given name. King Chu was agile and clever, and had the strength to kill wild animals with his bare hands, but he also loved wine and women more than anyone else, so he was very fond of Daji. He obeyed everything she said and lived a lavish life, even to the point of imposing heavy taxes on the people. He let wild animals loose in the palace gardens, filled the pond with wine, created a forest of meat (a pond and a forest of meat), and held long-night banquets with men and women running around. Eventually, he was killed along with King Chu by King Wu of Zhou, who led the feudal lords who opposed him, leading to the downfall of the Shang dynasty.
