Door-to-door sales - houmonhanbai (English spelling)

Door-to-door sales - houmonhanbai (English spelling)
This is a form of product sales, along with display sales and sample sales. In the past, peddling, such as the Toyama medicine seller, was the norm, but after World War II, as purchasing power increased with rising incomes, door-to-door sales attracted attention as a way to meet customers face-to-face, and door-to-door sales of automobiles, cosmetics, various medicines, books, insurance, securities, etc. became widespread. Department stores also began to sell luxury goods door-to-door. The strength of this sales method is that the customer is shown the product or sample that they want, explained to them, and convinced to buy. This door-to-door sales method is also considered non-store sales, and sales costs are reduced by the amount of capital investment, but a large number of salesmen are required. Many companies have partially introduced a commission-based salary system, which has reduced labor cost pressures and increased sales efficiency. Door-to-door sales require the quality of the salesperson as well as the strength of the product, so employee training on product knowledge and sales techniques is important.
