A Confucian scholar from the early Joseon Dynasty (Yi Dynasty). Born in Seonsan County, North Gyeongsang Province. His pen name was Hyojun and Kieon. His pen name was Tenbijae. His posthumous names were Munchunggong and Munjan. He passed the literary examination in the 5th year of King Sejo's reign (1460) and became the Minister of Criminal Law during the reign of King Seongjong. He excelled in both scholarship and writing, and was the founder of the Yeongnam school of thought following in the footsteps of Gil Jae (1353-1419) in the late Goryeo Dynasty. Many famous Confucian scholars, including Kim Hong-pil and Jeong Yeochang, came from his school. When these students were appointed by King Seongjong, they came into conflict with the Hunku school, which led to the Bowo warrior disaster and Kim Jongjik was punished after his death. His books include Tenbijaeji and Seongkyufuga, and edited volumes Dongmunsu and Insonrok.

朝鮮,朝鮮王朝 (李朝) 初期の儒学者。慶尚北道善山郡出身。字は孝盥,季おん。号はてん畢斎。諡は文忠公,文簡。世祖5 (1460) 年文科に及第し,成宗時代に刑曹判書となる。学問と文章に秀で,高麗末の吉再 (1353~1419) の流れをくみ,嶺南学派の宗祖となり,その門下からは,金宏弼,鄭汝昌ら多くの名儒が輩出した。これらの門下生が成宗に起用されると勲旧派と対立し,そのため戊午の士禍が起り,金宗直は死後の追罰を受けることになった。著書『てん畢斎集』『青丘風雅』,編書『東文粋』『彜尊録』。
