Ugayafukiaezu-no-Mikoto

Japanese: 鸕鷀草葺不合尊 - うがやふきあえずのみこと

A god who appears in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki.
He was the son of Hikohohodemi-no-Mikoto and Toyotamahime. He married his mother's younger sister, Princess Tamayori, and Emperor Jimmu was born. His name comes from the fact that his mother built a birthing hut by the sea and was trying to dust the roof with cormorant feathers, but he was born before the dust had finished. He is the deity worshipped at Udo Shrine in Miyazaki Prefecture. In the Kojiki, he is called Ubukiyafukihimeazume.

記・紀にみえる神。
彦火火出見尊(ひこほほでみのみこと)・豊玉姫の子。母の妹玉依(たまより)姫を妻とし,神武天皇が生まれたという。名前は母が海辺に産屋(うぶや)をつくり,鵜(う)の羽で屋根をふこうとしたところ,ふきおわらないうちに生まれたことによる。宮崎県鵜戸(うど)神宮の祭神。「古事記」では鵜葺草葺不合命。
