The spirit of food (rice). Uka, like ke and uke, means grains and food, and in the myths of the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, there are many gods with similar characteristics, such as Uka no Mitama no Mikoto, Ogetsuhime no Kami, Ukemochi no Kami, and Toyuuke no Kami. She is almost always spoken of as a goddess, probably because it is the female earth that nurtures grains. In the world of folk beliefs up to the present day, there are agricultural gods such as Ugajin, Oganokami, and Oukasama, all of which originate from Uka no Mitama.
