Uchiura (Ishikawa)

Japanese: 内浦（石川） - うちうら

...The highest point is Mount Konosu (567m) in Wajima City, followed by Mount Horyu (469m) on the border between Fugeshi County and Suzu City. Apart from these, the peninsula is generally a low, semi-plain-like hill with an elevation of 200-300m, dissected like dendritic branches. The Japan Sea side of the peninsula is called Sotoura, and the Toyama Bay side is called Uchiura. Topographically, Sotoura has masculine landscapes such as Noto Kongo and Sonogi Coast (named Ten), surrounded by high sea cliffs, while Uchiura has gentle curves and submerged feminine landscapes such as Tsukumo Bay, Nanao Bay, and Noto Island. The climate is also in contrast, and the Sotoura landscape is characterized by settlements surrounded by fences, which are used to protect against winter wind waves.

…The peninsula juts out to the north from the Hodatsu Hills, which form the border between Ishikawa and Toyama prefectures, and stretches about 100 km north to south and 50 km east to west. It is divided into Kuchi-Noto, which runs from the base of the peninsula to a line connecting the three towns of Togi, Nakajima, and Notojima, and Oku-Noto to the north.
