956-997 Bishop of Prague. Born into a Bohemian noble family. He was martyred for evangelizing the pagan Prussians, and is revered as a national saint in Czechoslovakia, Poland, and other places. His baptismal name was Vojčech, but he later took the name of his teacher, Bishop Adalbertus of Magdeburg, and is known in Western Europe as Adalbertus of Prague.
