A 1932 coup d'état led by young radical naval officers. After the October 1931 incident ended without success, Lt. Colonel Hashimoto Kingoro and other staff officers were transferred to the provinces and overseas, and the young officers attached to the corps who resented the staff officers hoped that national reform could be realized under Army Minister Araki Sadao and moved away from direct action. In response, the Inoue Nissho faction and other young radical naval officers including Lieutenant Fujii Hitoshi were determined to rise up to reform the nation, and initially planned to assassinate key figures in the political and financial world on National Foundation Day, February 11, 1932.

海軍急進派青年将校を中心とする1932年のクーデタ事件。1931年十月事件が不発に終わったのち，橋本欣五郎中佐ら幕僚将校は地方や外国に転勤させられ，幕僚将校に反感をもった隊付青年将校らは，荒木貞夫陸相のもとで国家改造が実現できるものと期待し，直接行動から離れていった。これに対して井上日召一派と藤井斉中尉ら海軍急進派青年将校は国家改造のための決起に固執し，はじめは32年2月11日の紀元節を期して政財界の要人を暗殺することを計画した。
