Vesuvianite (English spelling)
Also called vesuvianite. A rock-forming mineral. Its chemical composition is Ca 10 (Mg,Fe) 2 Al 4 Si 9 O 34 (OH,F) 4 ​​and it belongs to the tetragonal crystal system. It often appears as beautiful euhedral columnar crystals elongated along the c- axis in yellow, green or brown. It has a Mohs hardness of 7, specific gravity of 3.3-3.5, and incomplete cleavage at {110}. It appears in limestone that has been subjected to contact metamorphism, but is rarely found in rodingite associated with basic-ultramassic rocks and alkaline plutonic rocks. In Japan, Misato is found in the Chichibu Mine in Saitama Prefecture.

ベスブ石ともいう。造岩鉱物の一つ。化学組成はCa10(Mg,Fe)2Al4Si9O34(OH,F)4で正方晶系に属する。黄色,緑色または褐色のc軸に伸びた美しい自形の柱状結晶で出現することが多い。モース硬度7,比重3.3~3.5,{110}に不完全なへき開がある。接触変成作用を受けた石灰岩に出現するが,まれに塩基性‐超塩基性岩に伴うロディンジャイトやアルカリ深成岩に含まれる。日本では埼玉県秩父鉱山から美晶が産する。
