…The school formed the Harvard-Yenching Society in partnership with Harvard University in the United States, and made many achievements in Chinese studies. Its journal, the Yenching Society (1929-37), contains many essays that are still useful to reference today. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the school was closed down due to the Beijing government's policy of taking over church schools. In accordance with the National Engineering Colleges Adjustment Plan promulgated in 1952, the engineering department was integrated into Tsinghua University, and the humanities, science, and law departments into Peking University, and the school was officially closed. …
