A method of receiving radio waves. The received high frequency is first converted to an intermediate frequency, amplified, and then detected to obtain a signal current for audio and video. For this purpose, the receiver is equipped with a local oscillator, which generates a high frequency current that is superimposed on the received high frequency, and the difference between the two frequencies is extracted as an intermediate frequency using the beat. In this case, a tuning circuit and local oscillator are linked to obtain a constant intermediate frequency (for example, 455 kHz for radio) for any received frequency. Since amplification is performed within a constant and narrow wavelength range, it is stable and has good sensitivity and selectivity. → Related topics Armstrong | Beat | Frequency conversion | Intermediate frequency | Radio Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
