1922‐91 French harpsichordist. He studied piano, harpsichord and music theory at the Paris Conservatory, and made his debut on French national radio in 1949. He subsequently became active as a soloist and chamber musician, contributing to the rediscovery and revival of baroque music. He is known for his solid performance style that incorporates a modern sensibility, and his skillful realization of basso continuo. He organized the Paris Baroque Ensemble, whose members included the flutist Jean-Pierre Rampal (1922- ), and gave performances around the country in the 1960s and 1970s.
