A political and financial adviser to the Ilkhanate, and a historian. He first served as a physician at the court of Abakha Khan. Around 1298, he was selected by Ghazan Khan to serve him, and following the example of Nizam al-Mulk, he worked to establish a Mongolian ruling system that was compatible with Iranian society. He also served Urjaitu Khan, who succeeded him, and promoted Ghazan Khan's policies, but was executed by a conspiracy by his political enemies at the beginning of the reign of Abu Said Khan. He compiled the "History of the Mongols" based on the dictation of Ghazan Khan, and then, at the command of Urjaitu Khan, compiled a kind of world history, the "Collected Histories," based on the "History of the Mongols."

イル･ハーン国の政治･財政顧問，歴史家。初め典医としてアーバーカー･ハーンの宮廷にあった。1298年ころガーザーン･ハーンに抜擢されて仕え，ニザーム･アルムルクに範をとり，イラン社会に適合したモンゴル支配体制の確立に尽力した。続くウルジャーイートゥー･ハーンにも仕え，ガーザーン･ハーンの諸施策を推進したが，アブー･サイード･ハーン時代の初め，政敵の陰謀によって処刑された。ガーザーン･ハーンの口述に基づき《モンゴル史》を編纂し，さらに，ウルジャーイートゥー･ハーンの命により，《モンゴル史》を核とする一種の世界史《集史》の編纂にあたった。
