Hirahara-kun

A Chinese politician in the Warring States period. Son of King Wuling of Zhao and younger brother of King Huiwen. His real name was Zhao Sheng. He was given the title of Lord Pingyuan and was a powerful man who supported several thousand guests. He was also known as a wise man, and served King Huiwen and King Xiaocheng of Zhao as a prime minister three times. In 257 BC, when Zhao was attacked by Qin, one of the guests, Mao Sui, stroked his long sword and asked the King of Chu to send reinforcements, which was granted. He is counted as one of the Four Lords of the Warring States period.

中国、戦国時代の政治家。趙(ちょう)の武霊(ぶれい)王の子、恵文(けいぶん)王の弟。本名は趙勝(ちょうしょう)。東武(とうぶ)城（現山東省徳州市の南東）に封ぜられて平原君と号し、食客数千人を養う勢力家であった。また賢人として名をはせ、趙の恵文王、孝成(こうせい)王に仕え、三度相(しょう)を務めた。紀元前257年、趙が秦(しん)に攻められたとき、その食客の1人毛遂(もうすい)が長剣を撫(ぶ)して楚王に援軍派遣を求め、それが実現した故事は有名。戦国四君の1人に数えられる。
