Abbreviated as SWU. A unit used in relation to uranium enrichment to express the size of an enrichment plant, the enrichment capacity per centrifuge, or the cost required for entrusted enrichment. The amount expressed in this unit is called the separation work amount, and is calculated using the following formula. Here, F , P , and W are the amount of raw material supplied, the amount of product, and the amount of waste, respectively. Also, x is the atomic fraction of ²³⁵ U in uranium, and the subscripts F, P, and W indicate that the values are for the raw material, product, and waste, respectively.

SWUと略称する。ウラン濃縮に関連して，濃縮工場の規模や遠心分離機1台当りの濃縮能力，あるいは委託濃縮に要する費用などを表現するときに用いられる単位。この単位をもって表される量は分離作業量と呼ばれ，次式で計算される。ここに，F,PおよびWは，それぞれ原料供給量，製品量および廃棄材量である。またxはウラン中の²³⁵Uの原子分率であり，添字のF,PおよびWは，それぞれ原料，製品および廃棄材についての値であることを示す。
