Chitose

Japanese: 千歳 - ちとせ

This is a former village area in the northeast of Bungo-Ono City, in the southwest of Oita Prefecture. It is located in the middle reaches of the Ono River. In 2005, it was merged with the towns of Asaji, Inukai, Ono, Ogata, Mie, and Kiyokawa to form Bungo-Ono City. Most of the area is made up of hills and plateaus of Aso lava, and is used for field crops, livestock farming, and tobacco cultivation. There are many rice paddies on the alluvial land formed by erosion by the Ono River and its tributary, the Akane River. There are many valuable stone relics, such as the stone pagoda at Hirao Shrine and the Osako stone Buddha.

大分県南西部，豊後大野市北東部の旧村域。大野川の中流域にある。 2005年朝地町，犬飼町，大野町，緒方町，三重町，清川村と合体し，豊後大野市となる。大部分は阿蘇溶岩の丘陵，台地からなり，畑作，畜産，タバコの栽培が行なわれる。大野川とその支流の茜川が浸食してできた沖積地には水田が多い。平尾社の石造宝塔，大迫石仏など，貴重な石造遺物が多い。
