Minnesenger was a German poet from Bavaria. His birth and death years are unknown. He is believed to have composed his poems between 1210 and 1240. He was active first at the court of the Duke of Bavaria and later at the court of the Duke of Austria, and there is evidence that he clashed with Walter von der Vogelweide in his later years. His complete works (about 70 dance songs) can be divided into two types. One is the "Sommerlieder", a summer song that is set in a pastoral setting and features a conversation that alludes to the popularity of a knight with a village girl. The other is the "Winterlieder", a story-like song in which a knight loses his lover to a village dandy who wants to imitate the knight.

バイエルン出身のドイツの詩人，ミンネゼンガー。生没年不詳。推定詩作年代は1210‐40年ころ。最初はバイエルン公の，後にはオーストリア公の宮廷で活躍し，晩年のワルター･フォン･デル･フォーゲルワイデと衝突した形跡がある。彼の残した全作品(約70編の舞踏歌)は，二つのタイプに分類される。ひとつは，牧歌的背景と騎士が村の娘にもてることをほのめかす会話とを中心にする〈夏の歌Sommerlieder〉で，もうひとつは，騎士がその恋人を騎士のまねをしたがる村の伊達者に奪われる物語風の〈冬の歌Winterlieder〉である。
