Daniel Cosío Villegas

1898‐1976 Mexican intellectual and historian. He played a leading role in many areas, including founding the Colegio de Mexico Graduate School, founding an academic publishing house, and compiling the 10-volume Historia moderna de México. In particular, after the 1968 crisis caused by the crackdown on student movements, he wrote El estilo personal de gobernar, which encouraged the formation of public opinion among the new middle class and students, and marked the beginning of criticism of the system, which had previously been considered taboo.
