Western Dvina [river] - Nishi Dvina
A river originating in western Russia. It originates in the Valdai Hills, flows westward through northern Belarus and Latvia, and empties into the Gulf of Riga. It freezes over from December to April. In Latvia it is called the Daugava. Most of the main tributaries are navigable. Its total length is 1,020 km.
