Water division [town] - Bunsui

Japanese: 分水[町] - ぶんすい

A former town in Nishikanbara County, central Niigata Prefecture. It is a watershed where the Shinano River and the Shinshinano River divert, and the Jizodo area in the center has developed as a river port. The Echigo Line runs through it, and machinery manufacturing is carried out here. The area near the watershed is famous for its cherry blossoms, and in Kamiyama to the west are the remains of Ryokan, including the remains of Gogoan. In March 2006, it was incorporated into Yoshida Town and Tsubame City in Nishikanbara County. 39.61 ^km2 . Population: 15,634 (2003).

新潟県中部，西蒲原(にしかんばら)郡の旧町。信濃川と新信濃川との分水地で，中心の地蔵堂地区は河港として発達。越後線が通じ，機械工業が行われる。分水地付近は桜の名所で，西の国上山には五合庵跡など良寛の遺跡がある。2006年３月西蒲原郡吉田町と燕市へ編入。39.61km²。１万5634人（2003）。
