Wen-guan ci-lin (English spelling)

A Chinese collection of poetry and prose. Compiled by Xu Jingzong and others in the early Tang Dynasty. 1000 volumes. Published in 658. Compiled by imperial order of Emperor Gaozong. Includes poetry and prose from the Han Dynasty to the early Tang Dynasty, classified by form and content. It is the second oldest collection of poetry and prose in China after the Monzen, but it was quickly lost and forgotten by the early Song Dynasty. However, over 20 volumes of the former Reizei-in collection were brought to Japan and copied, and during the Edo period, four of them were published in the Lost Collection by Hayashi Shunsai, bringing them back to the public's attention. They have since been printed in both Japan and China. The former Reizei-in collection is still in existence at Mount Koya, the Imperial Household Agency, and other places.

中国の詩文集。初唐の許敬宗らの編。 1000巻。顕慶3 (658) 年成立。高宗の勅命によって編集。漢から唐初までの詩文を，形式，内容別に分類，収録したもの。『文選 (もんぜん) 』に次ぐ中国最古の詩文集であるが，散逸が早く，宋初にはすでに失われ忘れられていた。ところが日本に伝来し書写された冷泉院旧蔵書二十余巻があり，江戸時代にそのうち4巻を林述斎が『佚存叢書』に収めて刊行したことから再び世に知られ，その後日中両国で印刷されている。冷泉院旧蔵書本は高野山，宮内庁などに現存する。
