A small city in the Elbląg Voivodeship in northern Poland. Population 1940 (1979). Its German name is Frauenburg. It is a small fishing port overlooking Lake Vistula, which is surrounded by a long, narrow sandbar 80 km long, and is also a resort with many sanatoriums. An old town in the Warmia region dating back to 1278, Copernicus worked here for 40 years, and there is a museum commemorating his achievements.
