Itsushi Incident - Itsushi no Hen

In 645 (the first year of the Taika era), Prince Nakano Oe (Emperor Tenchi) and Nakatomi Kamatari destroyed the Soga clan and established a new government. It was so named because 645 was the year of the Otome of the Chinese zodiac. 645年（大化１年）中大兄(なかのおおえ)皇子（天智天皇）や中臣鎌足(なかとみのかまたり)らが，蘇我大臣(おおおみ)家を滅ぼして新政権を樹立した政変。645年が干支(かんし)の〈乙巳〉にあたるため，その名がある。なお政変から新政権樹立に至るまでの一連の政治変革を〈大化改新〉と呼ぶが，この呼称は近代に入ってのものである。→藤原鎌足／蘇我氏／蘇我入鹿
