Japanese: 縮充 - しゅくじゅう

When woolen fabric is soaked in water and rubbed, the yarn shrinks and the surface of the fabric shrinks, or the process used to do this. Formerly written as "fulling." Woolen fabrics such as rasha and flannel are fulled using soap solution or dilute sulfuric acid at moderate temperature and humidity to make the fabric dense, and then raised to make it fluffy.

毛織物を水などに浸してもむと，織糸が縮んで布面が収縮すること，またこのようにする処理。以前は縮絨と書いた。羅紗(らしゃ)，フランネルなどの紡毛織物は適度の温・湿度下でセッケン液や希硫酸を用いて縮充し，布を緻密(ちみつ)にしたのち起毛を行って毛羽(けば)を立てる。
