Pre‐sapiens (English spelling)

Japanese: プレ･サピエンス（英語表記）Pre‐sapiens

There have been many theories about the emergence of modern humans since ancient times, one of which is the pre-sapiens theory. This theory states that modern humans descended from a lineage separate from Neanderthals, and since PM Boule (1913), many anthropologists have proposed various phylogenetic trees, the most recent of which was compiled by the Frenchman HV Vallois (1954). The term pre-sapiens was first used by the German G. Heberer (1950), and representative human fossils are three braincases discovered in the lower layers of a cave ruin in Fontéchevade, Charente, France.

新人の出現に関して古くからさまざまな考え方が出されているが，その一つにプレ･サピエンス説がある。この学説は，新人がネアンデルタール人とは別の系統から派生したとするもので，P.M.ブール(1913)以来，多くの人類学者によってさまざまな系統樹が提案されてきたが，これを集大成したのがフランスのバロアH.V.Vallois(1954)である。プレ･サピエンスという術語は，ドイツのヘーベラーG.Heberer(1950)によって最初に用いられたが，その代表的な人類化石はフランスのシャラント県フォンテシュバードFontéchevadeの洞窟遺跡の下層から発見された3個の脳頭蓋である。
