Blue Mountains

A mountain range on the eastern edge of Jamaica in the Caribbean. The highest peak is 2,256 meters above sea level. The southern slopes of the range are known as an area that produces some of the best quality coffee in the world. In Jamaica, coffee trees are said to grow at altitudes of 700 meters or higher in order to produce high-quality coffee beans, and the cultivation area of the Blue Mountains is located at altitudes of 1,000 to 1,500 meters. カリブ海のジャマイカの東端にある山地。最高峰は標高2256m。同山地の南の斜面は，世界でもとくに良質のコーヒーを産出する地帯として知られている。コーヒーの木は，ジャマイカでは標高700m以上の高地で生育するのが良質のコーヒー豆を産出する条件といわれ，ブルー･マウンテンの栽培地帯は，1000～1500mに位置している。【神代 修】
