Ge - ka (English spelling)

Japanese: 戈 - か（英語表記）ge

A representative type of weapon from ancient China. Made of bronze. Popular from the Shang dynasty to the Warring States period. A crowbar-style weapon consisting of three parts: the halberd, inner, and hu. The handle is fastened at a right angle to the sharp tip of the halberd with the inner part. There is a hole in the inner part to fasten the handle with a peg. The hu did not exist in early times, but over time the lower end of the base of the halberd developed longer, forming the hu part. The hu has a small hole for fastening the handle. In Korea and Japan, there are halberds with a slightly different shape from the Chinese one. In Japan, imported narrow-pointed bronze halberds are found from Kyushu to the Kinki region.

中国古代における代表的兵器の一種。青銅製。殷代から戦国時代にかけて盛行。援，内，胡の3部分から成る鳶口式の兵器。先端のとがった援に対して直角方向に柄が内の部分で緊縛される。内には1孔があって柄を目釘で留める。胡は初期にはなく，時代とともに援の基部下端が長く発達して胡の部分ができた。胡には柄を縛るための小孔があけられている。朝鮮や日本には，中国のそれと若干形を異にしたものが存する。日本では，舶載の狭鋒銅戈が，九州から近畿地方まで分布する。
