A local lord of Yamato who was active during the Muromachi period. For generations, they were monks of Daijo-in Temple at Kofuku-ji Temple. Their main residence was Fukushima City, southeast of present-day Nara City, and in the mid-Muromachi period, they were given the position of geshishiki (low-ranking official) in Fukushima City, as well as the Kirita rice of Takada Manor, 60 kanmon of the ukeuchi of Satake Manor, the position of tasakushu (main official) in Josei-ko, and half of the Fujisawa name of Echizen Kawaguchi Manor (Sangainkesho). Fukushima City was transferred to Minamiichi in Nara during the late Kamakura period, and thereafter Fukushima City was called Furuichi. The growth of the Furuichi clan as local lords is also thought to have occurred during the late Kamakura period, and is seen in historical documents in the Furuichi Tajima Duke in 1325 (Shochu 2).
