...In 1878, 23 complete skeletons of Iguanodon were excavated from the Bernissard coal mine in Belgium, 332-365 meters underground. Eleven of them were assembled and studied by Louis Dollo (1857-1931). They were the first materials used to investigate many questions about the nature of dinosaurs, such as variability and colonialism, and to develop theories about the laws of evolution in paleontology.
