An island in the southern part of the Maluku Islands, eastern Indonesia. It is mountainous, with the highest point at 2,429m above sea level. The coastline is monotonous and covered with mangroves, making it unhealthy. The interior is occupied by dense forests, which provide a lot of useful timber. The inhabitants are Alfur people.
