Fujairah; al-Fujayrah

One of the emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. It has no territory on the Persian Gulf, and its entire coastline faces the Gulf of Oman. The country is divided into two parts by the exclave of the Emirate of Sharjah and other factors, but the northern part is south of Cape Rus Al Jibaar, and the southern part, including the capital Fujairah, borders Oman to the south. The exclave of the Emirate of Sharjah and other factors intrude into the coast south of the capital Fujairah, making the border in this area unclear. In the 19th century, the country was considered part of Sharjah, but by 1886 it had become a de facto independent country, and was recognized by the United Kingdom in 1952. It became a member state when the United Arab Emirates was established in 1971. Economically, there is a small amount of agriculture in the mountains and fishing on the coast. Area: 1,300 ^km2 .
