Brill, Paul
Born: 1554. Antwerp
Died: October 7, 1626. A Flemish landscape painter active in Rome, Italy. In 1583, he succeeded his brother Matthaus, who died young while working on a fresco for the Vatican Palace called "The Four Seasons," and completed the work. His early style was Mannerist, but after 1600 he was influenced by A. Elsheimer and produced many small easel paintings. His works include "The Fisherman" (1624, Louvre Museum) and "River Scene" (Prado Museum).
