Takahara River

Japanese: 高原川 - たかはらがわ

A river that flows through the northern part of Gifu Prefecture. Its total length is about 47 km. It flows out from Hirayu at the northern foot of Mt. Norikura, flows westward, and joins the Kamata River, Sugoroku River, Kurahashira River, Atotsu River, and other rivers to form the Jinzu River, which joins the Miya River at the border with Toyama Prefecture. The upper reaches belong to Chubu Sangaku National Park and are a tourist destination with many hot springs, but it is a rough river with a lot of soil and rocks washed away from the foot of Mt. Yakedake and other areas. In the middle reaches near Kamioka, a typical river terrace is formed. In the lower reaches of the Jinzu River, river water pollution due to mineral poisons from the Kamioka Mine has become a problem.

岐阜県の北部を流れる川。全長約 47km。乗鞍岳北麓の平湯から流出し，西方に流れ，蒲田川，双六川，蔵柱川，跡津川などを合せて富山県境で宮川と合流して神通川となる。上流部は中部山岳国立公園に属し，温泉地の多い観光地であるが，焼岳山麓などからの土石の流出が多い荒れ川である。中流の神岡付近では模式的な河岸段丘を形成している。下流部の神通川では，神岡鉱山の鉱毒による河水汚染が問題となった。
