[Died] October 14, 1959. Vancouver, Canada. Australian actor. Full name Errol Leslie Thomson Flynn. He lived a short but eventful life as one of the leading adventure actors in the movie industry. His father was a famous Australian marine biologist and zoologist. He was expelled from a prestigious school at his parents' request, but he abandoned his studies and changed jobs several times. In 1933, he caught the eye of an Australian film producer and played the role of mutineer Fletcher Christian in the semi-documentary film "In the Wake of the Bounty". This led him to pursue acting, and after appearing in several British films, he signed a contract with the Hollywood film company Warner Brothers. He starred in the adventure film Captain Blood (1935) as a replacement for Robert Donat, and achieved stardom. He appeared in many films, including The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) and They Died with Their Boots On (1941). In 1942, he was accused of raping two teenage girls, but was found not guilty. He enjoyed a brief revival of popularity, however, with successful performances in The Sun Also Rises (1957) and The Roots of Heaven (1958).
