Purim Festival - Purimsai (English spelling)

Japanese: プリム祭 - プリムさい（英語表記）Purim

A Jewish holiday. It is celebrated on the 14th and 15th of the Jewish month of Adar (February to March in the solar calendar). On this day, Jews gather in synagogues and listen to the reading of the Book of Esther from the Old Testament, cursing the Persian official Haman, who tried to destroy the Jews, and praising Queen Esther and her foster father Mordecai, who saved the Jews from Haman's evil schemes. The name of the holiday, Purim, comes from the fact that the lot that Haman cast was called Pur in Akkadian. [Ishida Tomoo]
