Plantin, Christophe
[Born] 1520. Santa Bertin
Died: July 1, 1589. Antwerp, Belgium. French printer and publisher. He trained in bookbinding and bookselling in Caen, and in 1549 started his bookbinding business in Antwerp, Belgium, the economic and cultural center of the country. After an arm injury, he switched to printing, and published beautiful French and Latin editions of books, using illustrations from woodblock prints, which flourished in Antwerp at the time. He also published Hebrew, Latin and German editions of the Bible, Greek and Roman classics, and Roman law books. He also published the Old and New Testaments, the works of Augustine, and other works based on strict textual criticism. He established branches in Paris and Leiden, and after his death, Jean Moretus became his successor. The building of the Plantin publishing house (bookstore) has been open to the public as the Plantin Moretus Museum by the city authorities since 1877, and was registered as a cultural heritage of the World Heritage Site in 2005.

Printemps
Au Printemps SA

A French general wholesale and retail group established in 1865. It was known as a long-established department store, but was acquired by Stes Alsachiennes Magasin Populaires in 1972, which led to streamlining of management and diversification of business. In 1985, it acquired catalogue retailer La Rudot. In Japan, it formed a business partnership with Printemps Ginza (established in 1983) funded by Daiei, but the contract to use the company name was terminated at the end of 2016. In 1991, due to overinvestment, the management body changed and it became part of the Pinault Group (PPR). In 2013, it was acquired by a group of Qatari investors.
