Polish philosopher and logician. In Polish, his name is Łukasiewicz. After obtaining his doctorate under Kazimierz Twardowski (1866-1938), he was a professor at the University of Warsaw between the two world wars and was the leader of the so-called Polish School. He also participated in the education administration immediately after World War I. After World War II, he studied in Dublin. He made many pioneering achievements in the fields of propositional logic, including multi-valued logic, the modern formulation of syllogisms, and the history of logic, which is closely related to these.

ポーランドの哲学者,論理学者。ポーランド語ではウカシェービチ。トバルドフスキKazimierz Twardowski(1866‐1938)の下で学位を得た後,両大戦間はワルシャワ大学教授として,いわゆるポーランド学派の指導者であった。また,第1次大戦直後文部行政にも参画した。第2次大戦後はダブリンで研究。多値論理を含む命題論理,三段論法の現代的定式化,さらにそれと密接に結びついている論理学史の分野で多くの先駆的業績を残した。
