Born: 24 October 1854, Sherborne, Gloucestershire
[Died] March 26, 1932. Weybridge, Surrey. Leader of the Irish agricultural co-operative movement and politician. Founded the Irish Agricultural Organisation Association in 1894. Unionist member of the House of Commons from 1892 to 1900, contributed to the establishment of the Irish Department of Agriculture and Technical Education in 1899, and served as Permanent Secretary to the Department until 1907. Prayed for Irish independence within the Commonwealth of Nations. Member of the Irish Parliament from 1917 to 1918, and after Irish independence, served in the House of Lords from 1922 to 1923. Author of Ireland in the New Century (1904).

Died July 1, 1681, London. Irish clergyman. Studied in Rome as a Catholic, he became Archbishop of Armagh in 1669 and oversaw the Archdiocese of all Ireland. In 1678, he was implicated in the Papist Plot, fabricated by T. Oates, and arrested in Dublin. After being tried in London, he was executed in 1681. He was the last Catholic martyr in England.

アイルランドの聖職者。カトリック教徒としてローマで学び,1669年にアーマー大司教となり,全アイルランドの大司教座を統監したが,78年 T.オーツの捏造した教皇派陰謀事件に巻込まれてダブリンで逮捕され,ロンドンで裁判にかけられた末,81年に処刑された。イギリスにおける最後のカトリック殉教者。
