Born: 24 October 1854, Sherborne, Gloucestershire [Died] March 26, 1932. Weybridge, Surrey. Leader of the Irish agricultural co-operative movement and politician. Founded the Irish Agricultural Organisation Association in 1894. Unionist member of the House of Commons from 1892 to 1900, contributed to the establishment of the Irish Department of Agriculture and Technical Education in 1899, and served as Permanent Secretary to the Department until 1907. Prayed for Irish independence within the Commonwealth of Nations. Member of the Irish Parliament from 1917 to 1918, and after Irish independence, served in the House of Lords from 1922 to 1923.
