British international political scientist. Graduated from the University of Lwów in Poland in 1935. Engaged in law practice in Poland from 1935 to 1938. Worked as a farmer in Western Australia from 1938 to 1947, and obtained a master's degree in law from the University of Western Australia in 1948. Obtained a doctorate in economics (international relations) from the University of London in 1950. Lectured at the University of Aberdeen from 1951 to 1962, and was professor of politics at the University of Southampton from 1963 to 1973. Visiting professor at the International Christian University in 1977. His major works include The Making of Foreign Policy (1962), International Relations (63), International Politics: Conflict and Harmony (69), and National Interest (70). He was an international political scientist who was relatively rare in Britain, as he was able to understand new research methods and excelled at providing balanced overviews.
