Battle of Plataea - Battle of Plataea
In 479 BC, during the Second Persian War, the Greek army under the command of Pausanias of Sparta defeated the Persian army. Plataea is a place in Boeotia, central Greece. The battle resulted in the death of the Persian general Mardonius, and the independence of Greece was secured.
