...The next most famous work is "Taiheiki Chuushin Koshaku" (October 1766, Takemotoza), and all subsequent Rōshi dramas were in some way influenced by these two works. Representative works include the puppet theatre "The Tale of the Loyal Retainer" (April 1772, at the Kita-Horie Theater in Osaka), "The Three Cups of the Irohagura" (July 1773, at the Kita-Shinchi Theater in Osaka), "The Chūshin Iroha Jikki" (July 1775, at the Hizen Theater in Edo), and "The House of the Honkura Shimoyashiki" (April 1878, at the Oebashi Theater in Osaka). Kabuki plays include "A Lecture on the Legend of the Righteous Retainer" (Chushin Renri Nohachie, March 1788 (Tenmei 8) at the Kita-Horie Theater in Osaka), "The Forty-Seven Iroha Kana Commandments" (Yasaku's Sickle Belly, September 1791 at the Kado Theater in Osaka), and "The Two Sides of the Loyal Retainer" (Hachinosu Heiemon, Fugitive, Takubei's Messenger, 1833). In addition to such plays as "Chushingura: The Tale of Lelouch of the Rebellion" (March 1857, Kawarazaki-za, Edo), "Kanadehon Suzuri Takashima" (Akagaki Genzo and the Tokkuri Farewell, May 1858, Ichimura-za, Edo), "Chushingura: Gonikite Kenzen" (Onna Sadakuro, leap May 1865, Nakamura-za, Edo), "Keifude Shichi Iroha" (Hato no Heiemon, August 1867, Ichimura-za), "Iroha Jikki" (Matsuura no Taiko, September 1878, Ebisu-za, Osaka), and "Tsuchiya Kazura" (October 1907, Kaku-za, Osaka), there were also spin-off works such as "Tokaido Yotsuya Kaidan" (July 1825, Nakamura-za) by Tsuruya Namboku IV, and of more recent times, "Genroku Chushingura" by Mayama Seika is famous and excellent. (2) In rakugo and rokyoku, there is a group of stories called "Ako Gishi Den" that are based on the story of the raid by the Ako Roshi.
