1600‐56 King of the Ayutthaya dynasty of Thailand. Reigned from 1630 to 1655. In 1630, he wiped out his political opponents, such as Yamada Nagamasa, who supported the royal government, and usurped the throne from the young emperor Arthidyavong. He then became the founder of the Prasathorn royal family. After his reign, the Japanese commercial influence in Ayutthaya was destroyed. The king's strong trade monopoly policy resulted in many overseas Chinese entering various fields of trade, but despite the royal trade monopoly, the Dutch East India Company, which had a trading post in Ayutthaya, engaged in active trade activities, backed by its naval power.
