Abbreviation for "fraction activity." Political parties organize small groups of party members called "fractions" within mass organizations such as labor unions, and through the organized activities of the fractions, they try to align the activities of the mass organizations with the policies and guidelines of the political party. This is mainly used to refer to the activities of the Japanese Communist Party. A well-known example of this that has been the subject of debate in Japan is the fact that the Japanese Communist Party engaged in factional activities within the Industrial Federation Conference. After the February 1st strike was called off in 1947, criticism began to be directed at the leadership of the Industrial Federation Conference in the struggle up to that point.
