Motoori Norinaga's book on waka poetry. 3 volumes in total. Incomplete. It was written around 1763 (13th year of the Horeki era), a little later than "Shibun Yoryo" (written in 1763). In 1757, Norinaga returned to Matsusaka from his study in Kyoto and compiled his book on waka poetry, "Ashiwake Obune," but he also interpreted stories and waka poetry with a unified aesthetic sense, completing his theory on "mono no aware." This book begins with a definition of "what does waka poetry express," and goes on to develop a theory on the essence of waka poetry and criticism of traditional waka poetry, while presenting a theory on "mono no aware" waka poetry.
