Iwagasaki

A district of Kurihara City in northern Miyagi Prefecture. Formerly Iwagasaki Town. National Route 457 runs through the area. Since 1694 (7th year of Genroku), it was the castle of Nakamura Hyuga no Kami, a vassal of the Sendai Domain. It was also a valley-guchi settlement, and as a market town, the horse market was particularly popular. There is the Michinoku Folk Museum, which introduces the culture and history of the Kurikoma region.

宮城県北部、栗原市(くりはら)の一地区。旧岩ヶ崎町。国道457号が通じる。1694年（元禄7）以後仙台藩の家臣中村日向守(ひゅうがのかみ)の居城であった。また谷口集落でもあり、市場町として、とくに馬市が盛んであった。栗駒地方の文化と歴史を紹介する「みちのく風土館」がある。
