An old town in Asakuchi District, southern Okayama Prefecture. It is located on the right bank of the Takahashi River, and is served by the Sanyo Main Line. Outdoor grapes, white peaches, and greenhouse muscats are cultivated on the hills. Persimmons are also cultivated. With the development of the Mizushima industrial area, the area is becoming a residential area. 岡山県南部，浅口郡の旧町。高梁(たかはし)川右岸にあり，山陽本線が通じる。丘陵地で露地ブドウ，白桃，温室マスカットを栽培。花卉(かき)栽培も行う。水島工業地帯の発展で住宅地化が進む。2005年８月吉備郡真備町と倉敷市へ編入。10.84km2。7611人（2003）。
